About Radiesse
Radiesse is a calcium-based filler, which is ideal for treating deeper lines like nasolabial folds and for restoring volume in the cheek and temple areas. Radiesse is made of a material similar to that of our teeth and bones (calcium hydroxylapatite). The compound is formed into tiny spheres 25-45 microns in diameter (smaller than your white blood cells), which are then suspended in a water-and-glycerin gel.
The consistency of this filler is like thick toothpaste and provides exceptional lifting ability. It is the ideal filler for cheeks, nasal folds, and temples. It last for about 18 months.
Over the following three months after injection the gel portion of the filler gradually breaks down, while the remaining calcium hydroxylapatite particles are infiltrated with collagen from your own skin. Hence, it is called a ‘Collagen Stimulating Dermal Filler’.

I have seen Dr. Howton for my Radiesse injections not for years. It is my favorite filler for my cheeks and the chin area. Just a couple of syringes give me the look I want. Where can Radiesse be injected?
RADIESSE can be injected in the following locations*:
- Smile lines: also called the nasolabial folds, are the lines that run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth
- Marionette lines: the lines that run downward from the corners of the mouth
- Corners of the mouth: also called the oral commissure, if these are turned downward it can make you look as though you’re frowning
- Pre-jowl fold: the area on either side of the chin, where skin can sag due to loss of facial volume
- Chin wrinkles: horizontal lines that can form on your chin and distract from your smile

What can I expect after the Radiesse injection?
You will see immediate lifting and volume restoration. of the loose skin after the procedure. The most common adverse events include bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness and itching. These side effects generally last for a short time and are mild in nature.

What can I expect during my Radiesse injection?
Radiesse is injected under the skin in a quick procedure that can be done over the lunch hour. Radiesse is also pre-mixed with lidocaine (an anesthetic), which means the procedure will be quite more comfortable.
